Supply Chain Management

The flow of goods and services is an integral part of our economy. Managing this flow properly can help businesses and therefore consumers cut costs and make products more affordable. It is also beneficial because it can help companies get their products to customers quickly and efficiently.

The management of this flow is called Supply Chain Management (SCM). The SCM process is all about production. From the transformation of raw materials into goods, all the way to delivering those products to customers, every step must be smooth and efficient. With the world constantly changing, SCM also must change and update to keep up!

The Supply Chain Manager controls the logistics of the different parts of the supply chain. The different parts are the plan, the source, manufacturing, delivery and logistics, and the return system (Fernando, 2021). They can control these parts by controlling inventory, streamlining production, streamlining distribution, keeping track of sales, and paying attention to the inventories of vendors.

We spoke with Charles Walker, Business Development Representative for The Ginn Group, about SCM. Charles says that “TGG (The Ginn Group) understands that Supply Chain Management is a process system whereby all the channels within must be open for effective communication, collaboration, and cooperation. Good systems have these 3 components functioning like a well-oiled machine.”

Charles also explained, “The Ginn Group knows that good business relationships are built on knowing customer needs and requirements, listening for customer pain points and bottlenecks whereby we can create solutions that the client is happy with. Creating that kind of synergy with clients is what TGG does well which creates a brand instead of just a business, using our strong Supply Chain Management as the vehicle for long-term business development and success.”
