How The Ginn Group Protects Against Fires

Fires can cause detrimental damage to warehouses and facilities and pose a safety concern for employees. The Ginn Group offers fire protection as part of our facilities support services. Fire protection encompasses all the equipment and systems used to notify parties and evacuate personnel when smoke, fire, or gasses are detected. These systems play a crucial role in protecting assets that could be damaged by fire, smoke, and gasses.

The Ginn Group oversees a wide variety of facilities that require different fire protection systems as they are based on the occupancy and operation of the facility. For example, military bases require Mass Notification Systems, which broadcast alerts and information to a large number of people. Hospitals may require Joint Communications Standards. The Ginn Group takes into account the building’s needs to create an effective fire protection plan and system.

FIre Protection Systems

As stated before, the fire protection plan is based on the occupancy and operation of the facility.  Some of the fire protection methods and tools used by teams are as simple as effective fire alarms and fire extinguishers. Others are as complex as Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA), Eliminate-Reduce-Raise-Create (ERRC) Systems, and fire pumps.

With these systems in place, facilities can be well-equipped in case of a fire. If a fire is detected, the fire protection systems will report the fire and start the notification process. This involves putting the building and the floors into alarm, unlocking all doors, and activating dampers, fans, and sprinklers. When the sprinklers are activated, they trigger the building’s strobes and voice notification system. All of this happens while the monitoring stations call for fire trucks.

Although these systems are in place, we stress the importance of properly educating tenants and employees on code guidelines and annual inspections. The maintenance and upkeep of these systems are also crucial to receive accurate notifications. Despite there being systems, inspections, and maintenance in place, fires are not completely preventable.

While we cannot prevent fires, teams ensure all equipment is prepared to handle the situations and save people and assets.

The Ginn Group takes pride in being able to provide this service to our clients as they place their most valuable asset in our hands. Thank you to all those who work together to protect and ensure the safety of the building and its personnel!
