Railroad Maintenance: Keeping You On Track

Just over a century ago, railroads were the leaders in transportation and travel. Yet, now the great international railroad system focuses primarily on freight transportation and carrying goods and equipment all over the country.

The use of these railcars allow for a greater carrying capacity than other forms of transportation. While freight planes are fast, they are also expensive and are limited in storage. Some planes, such as Airbus 340-300 can carry up to 16 tons; while a Boeing747-200 only holds around 12 tons, according to the International Forwarding Association

For freight trucks, “shipments commonly range from 5,000 pounds to 45,000 pounds and up,” according to Partner Ship’s website. In comparison, “a modern railcar has a gross capacity of 286,000 lbs or 125.5 tons moving in trains consisting of 100 cars or more, yielding a total carrying capacity of 12,500 tons” (quorumcorp.net). This larger capacity allows for greater capacity and capabilities than any other form of transportation. And with greater capabilities, comes greater possibilities.

Railroad transportation keeps us moving as a nation.

With modern railroad systems, our nation is able to continue progressing; but it takes modern maintenance to provide for modern systems. At The Ginn Group, we are proud to be a service-disabled, veteran-owned, small business providing federal contracting services for the railroad industry. With proper track maintenance, we can keep your industry on track and the United States moving forward.
